What is a good load in 270WSM elk/deer?

[-o< I am new here and also this is my first year I will be going out west to hunt mullies and elk and I'm extremely pumped about my hunt and I want to do alot of research on the different loads and how they perform on different game just so everyone knows I will be shooting my Savage model 10 chambered in the 270WSM ya I know it's a cheap gun but it kills whitetails every year with the cheap Federal Fusions so for this hunt I've been leaning towards the Federal Premiums 140gr with the Nosler Accubonds I just would appreciate any feedback I could get from you guys on this subject Thanks Chris

I shoot a 130 grains and it works perfect for Mule Deer for me.

Sounds like your load and gun will work great also, best of success on your upcoming hunt and WELCOME to MuleyMadness.

doeslayer32, Welcome, You found a great site.

No question your 270WSM in 140 Fed Premiums is a good choice for both deer and elk.

Tell us a bit about your upcoming hunts.

doeslayer32, welcome to Muleymadness!!!

Just as the others have stated, you have no reason to worry...your Model 10 270/140 grain should do ya just fine. All you need to do is find the monster of your dreams and make a clean hit...LOL

GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!

I have been using 130's in mine for deer and antelope and have not hunted elk with it. I use my 300wsm for elk. I do think your fine with the 270wsm on elk.

The accubond or barnes triple shock bullets are great choices for elk IMO.

Welcome doeslayer,
As the other have said, you'll be perfectly fine with the 140gr accubonds. I hunt deer and elk with a .270 Win, non-SM using the same bullet and have dropped elk out to 300 yards. Important thing is just put the bullet where it needs to be.

U cant kill an animal more than dead, i'd rather reck a few pounds of meat, than have to track and animal all day through the bush, use the heaviest bullet that it will shoot. But remember, bullet placement is everything

Hornady Interbonds 130 gr or the barnes Triple shocks also a great bullet
