What kind of hunting rig you drive?

I drive a 2000 Jeep XJ Cherokee. I'm getting ready to do some mods to the cooling system such as an all metal 3 row radiator. Suspension, engine performance, and cosmetic to follow as funds become available.

2000 Chevy Blazer ZR2 of which I've posted a few pics over the years on here. Best mod by far is the 8000 lb winch up front. Sure makes getting the elk up in the air for skinning much easier!

locked up front and back,
hard top,
40+ mpg,
lifted, running 31's
rock crawler transfer case( the lowesr gears ever)

best rig ever IMO, it's never been stuck( and believe me, there has been a few drunken nights trying to proof different.)

i can drive all day long, come back to town, 5 gallons MAX!
might not be as cool as a bronco, or maybe a jeep, bur will out do them 99% of the time ,

1959 ford high boy lockers front and rear with a 454 ls6 with a bunch of mods. Not so good gas milage but love the power. But every day driver I have a 2006 deramax diesel lifted with 36 and bigger boost.

Due to my current location and fuel prices I got rid of my 05 Cummins and the payment on it for a '06 pontiac G6 that I spread a tarp out in and used all winter as my trapping rig.... needless to say it smells like beavers and swamp but I am not broke! lol I did this in December and with the trade in value lack of payment and fuel bill I have saved over 10,000 in the past 7 months!
With the money I have saved not making a payment and paying for the large fuel bills I plan on getting an older SUV style rig Maybe jeep cherokee, blazer, or 4runner. that I can buy outright and fix up if need be.

Unfortunately I ride around in the hills in a 1984 Chevy S-10 2wd. When I need 4wd I borrow my parent's Jeep Grand Cherokee. My near-future plans include an early to mid 90's Chevy or GMC 1500 4wd.

I've seen those Samerai's in some really amazing places.

I drive a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. For a long bed, I'm amazed the tight places I've been able to take it.

My trusty Hyundai Sonata gets me to and from the trail heads... This thread got me thinking... With gas prices the way they are, the Dodge Megacab i dream about probably isnt the most fuel efficient way to go... not by a long shot! :))

Can anyone beat killer's set up for fuel efficiency and 4x4 capabilities? What other fuel efficient hunting rigs are out there that you guys have seen??

well i do gotta admit, the gas gage dont work so i just have to fill it up every time out, to be safe. today i filled her up, after "2" trips, and was dissapointed at a measily 32-33 mpg. of which 1/3 was in 4x4.

i love my old sammy!!
but you dang sure dont sdie hill with them!

Killer i agree you have one heck of a nice rig there but what happens if you kill something? where do you put it lol?

killerbee
oh, theres not alot of room in there, thats for sure! but when you fold the seat up and include putting the head and horns on the top or the hood, you can squeeze an elk in there;)

So why is it that we have no pictures of this feet?

I think you win this one Killer. I'm convinced its impossible to top your rig.

Nothing better than a big bull for a hood ornament right? lol

Killerbee - With an elk in there, I bet the steering gets light on you. :)

My hunting rig is a 2005 F250 SD Diesel. Nothing fancy after market wise, but do have some Cooper Discovery STT's on her to keep the mud flying.
