Epek XC3; way expense, but worth it. Have you guys seen the damage they cause and how they are accurate as field points? Furthermore, supporting some local guys from SLC does not hurt either.

Following other fellar's leads I will post a pic so you can see the Epek; pretty new and local, so they are not very well known. http://www.selectarchery.com/images/09epekbroadhead.gif" alt="" />

Ive been down to Utah Archery Center, "G" down there showed me these broadheads a while back. I think they've got a cool idea going here with an "expandable" type Broadhead, the mechanical function of it seems to be very well thought out. They're said to fly like a field tip - even at longer yardages (60+ yards). I was thinking about buying a box of em, they're around $40/box and from what I hear have already put down A LOT of animals.

Id like to give the Epek XC3's a try. I saw them at the Hunting Expo in SLC and they look deadly. The only problem is that I purchased a small stockpile of Trophy Ridge Undertakers. The Undertakers are a pretty awesome mechanical as well. Ive shot 4 deer with them and never had a recovery over 70 yards.

Rage 3 blade. Fly just like my field tips even at 60 yards. Killed an antelope at 40 yards this week. Went through part of his shoulder, center punched a rib, went through his lungs and left a big nasty hole through him. On the exit side (farther back, he was quartered to me) one blade busted through half of a rib, then it exited and went 10 yards further. No damage to the head whatsoever; resharpened it and put it back in my quiver. Check out the pic of the entry hole when I post it the whole story in the antelope forum. Nasty! He only went 60-70 yards. Great blood trail too.

I was using the G5 Montecs, but switched to the Rage 3 Blades when I saw how well they flew. The only problem I have with them is that they tend to open a little in my octane quiver. It's not so bad when I'm in a treestand, but last year in Colorado I kept having to fix them in the quiver while elk hunting.

OK since we are talking broadheads here. Check out this video. Is this a "fair" test? I was least impressed with the RAGE 3 blade. That thing looked trashed! The Piston points "I think" are the same as the Undertakers that I currently shoot. It held up OK...Regardless.... this test sure does show the durability of a good old fixed blade over mechanicals. I just cant get fixed blades to fly as good as my mechanicals.
