What price would pay?

I'm asking what would you sacrifice to even see a world class buck on public lands, in an area you can hunt with an over the counter tag. I went up on Thurs. with utahjohny5 to find and get pics. of a giant 4 point he had seen a few weeks ago. We did find it but it was right at dark and no pics. were possible but we did get a good look through the scopes. The price I payed, is that I severly sprained my ankle and will be out of comission for a few weeks now. Was it worth it? Heck yes, I have no regrets when it comes to seeing a buck like that. If I would have headed out early before it got completly dark I would have never seen the buck or may have seen the hole before I stepped in it.. Many,many people will never see a buck like that in there lifetime.

I severly sprained my ankle and will be out of comission for a few weeks now.
 Ridge, I hope you heal up soon. That sounds like a great buck.

I know you've seen plenty of big bucks and I trust your opinion 100%, hope someone gets him or we get to see pics eventually.

ridgetop, he must have been a brute! Good luck with the ankles bud and I hope they heal completely before the season. Sprained ankled can linger forever. In fact, sometimes it's worse than breakin' em.

Get them workin' again and get out there after that buck so that the rest of us can take a look at him.

......and the truth of the matter is that if it hadn't been for Ridgetops eagle eyes we would have missed the buck all together. He can spot those deer for sure...just wish he could have seen the hole in the trail. #-o I couldn't believe how swollen his ankle was when we got back to the car.

By the way....I went and watched the video sawtooth took. He got several of the bucks we've been watching up close and personal. I will see if he will let us upload some of it.

here is my "worth it story".....

I went hunting when I was 8 months pregnant with our 2nd child. the only draw back is that i think all of the extra stress in the last month made the boy a raving lunatic. I survived the hunting season but I am not sure if I will survive the resulting child. but then he has a true love for hunting already and he's 7!

was it worth it.... besides my husband ended up packing my gun most of the day which was not a problem since he had harvested a buck during the mz season. ohh and he had to hold my hair back while I http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z134/lifetimedeerhunter/icon_puke.gif" alt="" /> a couple of times. I saw a small grainy picture of him and I'm envious I don't have a tag this year. I definately think he's bigger than Brett's buck. I hope you guys can figure out how to get on him in a few days.

The only advice I can give you is DON'T MISS!

Well it's been 4 weeks now that I sprained my ankle and I am really starting to wonder if it was really worth it to see those big bucks that night I did it. I am still getting some swelling at the end of each day, even with all the anti-inflamitorys I am taking and it is still very tender. I am going to put it to the test next weekend and flag out a trail into the canyon of choice through some thick pines, so I can avoid boulder hopping through the cliffs again. Less than three weeks to go now. :) Oh, here's what the ankle looked like the day after I turned it. I normally have very boney feet.

wow. ya it sucks doesnt it. i had to stay off mine for quite some time last year when i messed mine up in a basketball game and thats the only way you can make it better is just to stay off of it for a while

ridgetop, I sure hope it heals enough so that it doesn't impact the season TOO much! Ankle sprains can be one of the most persistant, nasty injuries you can have. In fact, in some instances it's almost better to break it than sprain it (shorter recovery time).
I had a buddy of mine severly sprain his two years ago and he still has issues with it!
