what to do?

Hook up with someone that has a lot of experience and plan on spending a lot of time in the field. You can read some of the "how to books".

Agreed find a mentor and ask questions and get out if the field as often as possible.

Ya get advice and you'll learn from your mistakes. It takes time to be a good hunter though

Read up on whatever prey you intend to hunt, read as much as you can get your hands on. Like the other fella's said, find a hunter that would be willing to let you tag along with and show you the ropes. It takes dedication and lots of time afield. Learn good ethics early on and that will take you a long way as well. We all make mistakes out in the field, and you will too. Learn from them the first time.

Spend lots of time (as much as you can) out in the hills/fields when you are NOT hunting, and when the season is over to observe how the critters behave when not under hunting pressure. Best of luck to you! :thumb
