What trail cam to buy?

There are sooooo many trail cams that it really is hard to pick, a guy just has to decide how much they plan to spend then search through the ones in that price range.

Brett has a thread on home brew cameras on this site that probably take some of the best pictures, and yes Buckeye can be accessed from your computer at home depending on where the camera is set.

Correct, I love making my own. They take better pictures than most if not all store bought ones. Just my opinion. They seem to be getting better and better with image quality though.

They are expensive, but if your looking for the Cell phone ability this is the place to buy/do it from...

Thanks for the link, WOW not cheap! I guess we will have to just give one a try. I would like to find one my dad could put up where we are looking to hunt this fall, may be get some pics.

I don't have any personal experience with this camera, but with gas prices so high I am seriously looking into this one. I'm told you can just buy a prepaid phone with a sim card. (like a "GO" phone from wal-mart) You take the sim card out of the phone and place it into the camera and if the area has service it will text or email you photos with in a minute!

Of course the best one is expensive. I have Moultries and Cuddebacks, but I think i am going to pick up a couple of the Bushnells, they finished #2 in the test.

I would definitely take a look at www.chasingame.com as they are the best site out there for camera reviews. I would trust what ever they have to say about a camera. With that said the $200 and below cameras are a crap shoot. I have had some great ones but mostly they are unreliable. A homebrew from a trusted source is your best bet for reliability but they cost $$$. The satelite cameras you can check from home are cool but most require a membership to the manufacturers site which is the only place your pics get sent and where you have to check them. Thats another expense on top of the big money for the cam. Check out www.qdma.com on their forum you will find a guy named Firemanjim who makes homebrews that all those guys use and love and he stands behind his cameras 100%. Tell him Bigd7400 sent you.

I use the moultrie d40 and the wildview cameras. I would not recommend the moultrie ones. i dont like the pictures. however they take great video. my favorite cameras have been the wildview cameras. they are inexpensive, light and in my opinion take great pictures.
