What type of rifle should I use?????

I dont know what type of rifle would be the best in utah for the mule deer and elk? I just bought a 30 06 in the summer will that be good or should i go with sumtin better what do you guys use?? (???)

Looks like you've already got your answer! Put a good scope, something in the neighborhood of a 3X9, a good sling and then find a round that shoots well in your rifle. Something around 165gr to 180gr or so would suffice for either deer or elk. Then practice, practice, practice!

the 30.06 would be great, but if you want a real challenge tyr hunting with Thompson Contender in .375JDJ.... it is a handcannon, but great fun!

I have used 140s and 150s in my -06 for deer,elk and antelope,the factory remington corelokt rounds shoot very well.

The 30-06 has been used to kill every animal on the North American continent. With the huge range of avialable factory ammo the the ability to hand load it is a great one rifle choice.
