Nice buck, 165. Looks like he would be a nice buck in two more years with some mass on him. I figure him about being a four to five year old. If he makes it to seven or eight, I would give him an extra 15-20 points.

I would venture to guess a gross score of 165-170.

GREAT lookin' buck though!

Bohuntr, I hadn't thought about it until just now but I didn't see a deer that nice in September. That ol' boy is probably hanging out in someone's yard waiting on the snow to thin out so he can go home. I see better deer on the way out of Denver on weekends than I usually do up in the places that I draw tags for.

I came up with 167 nice buck for sure

Well I guess i'm gettin better at this! yipee!! I almost got fooled by the easiest trick in the book with the cocked back ears and nearly said 180... but after a second glance decided 165-170.... Looks like my practice has paid off cause reading through most of you guys agreed!!! YESS!!!!

GREAT buck any wich way it goes, GREAT pictures too!

hound_hunter, I'm the same way my friend. I was never very good at this but through the years that I've been part of this site I've gotten fairly good at it. I just listened to the various tips that folks through out, developed my own quirky little ways of doing it and now I'm usually "in the ballpark".

Nice Buck! I would venture to guess him at 168" Gross. I like the tallness of the rack.

I think the guys hinting around the high 160's are going to be pretty close. He is not super massive but a dang good buck everyway else. Hard to judge them type of deer, good everywhere makes em' tough to field score.

Nice lookin buck, but he'll only score about 160ish this year. His spread is 24 inches at the most and his front forks are way to small for him to score great. Give him some better mass and some great big front forks and, even with his width, he could go closer to 180.

hey ya guys. get some more pics of some bucks we can guess the score on. need to practice up for the season :thumb

I have a question along these lines also.. I've never even tried to score a buck. I can guess and come close, but have never tried to score one. Dad shot this buck back in 70' or 71', I wonder what it would have scored? It measures 31" in width, the base is right at 5" in circum., what other dimensions do you need?

I had no idea how much was involved in scoring one of the racks.... I downloaded the "Muley" form and will attempt to score it. I'll let you know how it turns out...

Deserthunter, now try scoring a buck within ten seconds before you decide to pull the trigger. :)

After nearly 40+ bucks, I can usually pick the one that I want, or don't want. I never have been a head hunter. Just the nice buck. I started hunting deer when I was 13, dad let me pull the trigger on a buck the year before I was legal, don't tell. I have hunted every year but the last 2 and for 14 of those years I hunted 2 states, Utah and Wy. I took deer in most every year, there were a couple of dry years but not many. I have enjoyed shooting, reloading, hunting, companionship and of course, the meat, best of ALL the meat.
