When to Plan Elk Shed Trip

Me and a couple of my buddies are going to take a trip down to a honey hole that I rifle hunt deer on, but there are as many or more elk there. When do you think a good time to make a trip is, specifically for elk sheds? It's 90 miles from here so we only want to make one trip, last weekend in March or second weekend in April?
