I was told by my buddy that he just bought a new Sony mini DV video camera and found out that it shuts down in cold weather and when he is at a high elevation. He actually gets a reading telling why it shuts down. Be careful about these new camera shutdown features when you buy yours. fatrooster.

CANON GL2... Its got awesome image quality and can't be beat for weight, size and price and taking deep into the woods.. If you are looking for videoing out past 200 yards you may want to look into the CANON XL1 or XL2 they have interchangable lenses that you can switch out. The main draw back with them--- they are exspensive, heavy, and quite large to haul 5 miles back into the mountains.. So the Gl2 is my choice.. Oh by the way, Im a Canon fan if you couldn't tell!!

I have a Canon GL1 and love it, GL2 is a bit better in some areas.

My vote goes there also.

I just got mine in the mail yesterday, I went with a Canon, XH A1 hi diffenition it was a little more expensive than I wanted to spend but with the deal the guy at the camera shop gave me I couldnt pass it up. I got the camera, 2.2X doubler lens, Wide angle lens, professional filter kit 3 filters, extra 12 hour battery for those long trips on the mountain, camera bag, cables and some misc. stuff, 6500.00 value retail prices, and I got it for 3999.00, But man what an awesome camera, I have used it a little and all I can say is I should of invested in this camera 2 years ago. I still have a lot of stuff to figure out, but from my understanding this camera is capable of doing things I will never learn or need to do. Ill get some videos up as soon as I get some cool footage and figure out how to load it up thanks for all the helpful information.
