wintering grounds

alright say if i have only seen one deer in a area all winter(like last year) and it was a really nice buck. Do you think theres more deer wintering in that area or could this just be a random loner buck?

He very well could be a batchelor buck, you should see more deer especially with the rut and winter months here. Hard to say without whatching him all the time. I have seen deer and elk all by their selfs but not many, I would say keep looking sure to find more close by. If anything watch him and his pattern so you can collect his antlers this coming spring.

Does it snow where the big buck hangs out? If it does, hike around and check tracks. Unless it's a unusual situation I would really be surprised if he's the only deer in the area. If there is security, food and water? must be if the big buck Winters there. There's got to be more deer around.
