Would you be comfortable?

Question for you....I am planning on backpacking in about 3 miles from any road and setting up camp this weekend, but will need to leave on Monday only to return on Thursday. Would you feel comfortable leaving camp set up for 72 hours with no one there? I am expecting an outfitter to be in the general area but outside of that I would not EXPECT anyone. (???)

That my friend is one of those gambels you can never be sure about. I wouldn't be comfortable doing it but that doesn't mean that it would be fine. :-k

Under the conditions you described I probably would do it, that's just me though. Just don't leave food and anything REAL valuable. Gun/bow/etc.

I've been camping for years and never lost anything. I left my backup bow and a chainsaw there too. I left my camp setup for 2 to 3 months in the same spot lots of times. I also made it a point to get to know the local residents. I also made sure they knew they were always welcome at my camp whether I was there or not. It and anything in it was their's to use if they pleased. They could help themselves to a meal or coffee anytime or stay over.

+2, I have not heard of many issues in situations like you described, but it all depends on who frequents the area. Don't make anything too obvious of values in the area or too visible to passersby.

It would depend on what your leaving up there. I wouldn't leave a gun up there but I would think camping equipment would be alright.
