wyoming help

so me and my dad and brother all have 2 non resident points for deer in wyoming. we are looking to use them this coming year. now I have done some research and talked to a few bioligists but im still a little unsure on were to burn these points. region G would be great but we're just not sure it would be good for our dad and we want him to have an enjoyable hunt but still have a chance to chase some decent size deer. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This is one of those questions that can only be answered............it depends. It depends on your dad's condition and hiking ability. It depends upon your trophy standards. Region G can be a tough place to hunt. It's steep and it is big country. I'm not sure where you are from or how exerienced you are, but this is country where you need to start early, stay out late and have really good optics. Spiking out or taking horse into the back country is a definite advantage. I'd figure on 2,000 to 2,500 feet vertical every day. That sounds easy, but it can be really tough after only a couple of days if you are not ready for it.

There are other areas here in Wyoming that offer good hunts. If your dad is not really in good physical condition, you might consider a trespass hunt or a guided hunt. If you really want BIG bucks they are hard to come by in any region, but there are quite a few areas where you can take respectable bucks in country that's not as rough.

Good luck in your effort and I hope you and your family have memorable and successful adventure.

Thanks for the reply. we are from utah and we hunt off of horses alot so we are experinced with that and even though my father might be able to afford a guided hunt or trespass fee me and my brother cant so were are just looking for some different options we know he can do that type of hunt he goes into the wahsatch front here in utah almost every other day but it is getting a little harder for him so we thought maybe a different type of hunt would be good for him. and we know wyoming has some really neat low land sage bursh type country that we can hunt that might give us a chance at a respectable buck. I hope that gives ya a little bit more idea of what we are looking for and thanks again any help is great.
