Wyoming Region B

My son and I are planning a hunt for 2011 for mule in Reg B around and north of Lusk. Any recommendations on what parts of Reg B are best?

I see this is your first post, ::wel to Muley Madness, take a minute and intorduce yourself to the members.

FYI most all the land in Region B is private land, so I can not really make any recomendations on where to hunt. You will most likely have to secure private land to hunt on.

Welcome. Region B does have some of the Thunder Basin National Grasslands in it, but it gets hunted really hard. I agree, please start early and locate a ranch where you can get private access. Both Niobrara (Lusk) and Weston (Newcastle) counties have info at their chambers of commerce.

B is not really known as a trophy area and licenses are easy to draw. But you need to line up a decent place to hunt early to have a memorable hunt with your son. You might also consider an antelope. There are LOTS of walk-in areas around Lusk and the antelope hunting and access is better then the mule deer situation.

Public land in Region B gets hammered by antelope hunters. The first 2 days are crazy. I have always had success antelope hunting but not too much deer hunting. The Douglas Chamber of Commerce has a list of landowners that have trespass fees. You can get the list online.
