You have GOT to check this out!!

I don't know anything about this other than what is says in the caption below the video. I guess it is at Wallowa Lake state park in Oregon. I'm sure someone on here has some info about it, a couple of these deer are actually pretty big, and it looks like the biggest one has ear tags? Are these deer wild? Just wondering what the story is behind this place?! Let me know what you think! Thanks!

wallowa lake, out of joseph oregon.
it's an everyday occurance, and in fact those aren't even the biggest bucks.

BUT, you gotta take it with a grain of salt. those bucks stay right in the park, never leave, have been fed potato chips their whole lives, and by no means wild deer.

The only real threat to you is when you run out of food, those suckers can get real grumpy real fast:)

I fed a wild mule deer doe out of my hand up in the high country. We were eating oreos and she couldn't resist the smell and ate one out of my hand. It was pretty neat!

I went to wallowa lake for a family reunion once, its an awesome place! I guess you could call it the dream petting zoo for any muley hunter! They are wild, but like killerbee said not that wild! Theyd probably taste more like cheetos than venison! I have some pictures of me and a cousin petting a decent buck somewhere ill have to see if i can find it and post it for you guys!

Yup, Killer hit it on the head. Great place to visit and the bucks there are AWESOME. Not huntable but certainly worth bringing some apples or oats to feed if ya visit.

Reminds me of going to the Royal Gorge just outside Canyon City, CO years back. Not sure if it the same today, though.

i imagine it still the same. i haven't been there in 3 yrs, but one of my best friends - since we were 5 yrs old- his aunt and uncle own the marina at wallowa lake.

last time i was there i seen 1 buck that was easily in the 190's, super heavy with lots of extras. he also had a gut that looked like an over weight , pot-bellied pig lol

also if you ever go there, you can see a mount of the famous bull "TAFT", CANT REMEMBER THE SCORE, (oohps, caps) but over 400, and was the heard bull from the oridinal group of elk in the eagle caps. cool story, which i might not have 100% correct- but it's a liong history of the bull thats pretty neat to read :thumb

That would be a very cool place to visit...especially for a kid. I think being that close to those big bucks would be a memory that would last a lifetime!

I may have to plan a vacation up that way. I think I would be a little nervous that close to that much antler, especially if they were hard horned.

It is an amazing place. Go for Chief Joseph Days and enjoy the rodeo. There are tons of hiking trails, and horseback riding. We stayed in some cabins up from the lake and the deer were eating grapes out of my hand. The deer in the park are amazing, and you can get lots of pictures with them.
